Small, suckering East African aloe with dark green or brown, glossy, spotted leaves and simple pink flowers (nearly continually, year round under favorable conditions). In habitat it grows in the shelter of junipers and other trees, and in cultivation it prefers part sun or filtered light outdoors. Stress (including sun stress) turns the leaves yellow and brown, and these colors are often a warning sign in cultivation to provide some protection. Aloe jucunda is an excellent container plant which can prosper for years on a sunny windowsill. Over the course of a few years it may put out a dozen offsets big enough to be cut and rooted elsewhere.

This plant is related to other mostly east African mosaic aloes (djiboutiensis, erensii, harlana, hemmingii, mcloughlinii, parvidens, peckii, pirottae, somaliensis, suffulta).
