[ Peach (Prunus persica 'Arctic Supreme') | Posted on March 7, 2024 ] Arctic Supreme has slightly smaller than average chalice shaped pale pink flowers. Constant checking to see if the fruit is ripe is required because the majority of the skin on the fruit remains cream/white with a red blush but the white portions that are not in direct sunlight have a light lime green hue and may appear to be unripe. Despite the pale color of the fruit the sweetness is absolutely divine. It is ripening in mid-September in zone 6b. Edited to include: Arctic Supreme tree has a loose columnar growth than wide spread. |

[ Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba 'Sherwood') | Posted on August 5, 2021 ] This tree's fruit is a nutritious fruit about the size of a lemon. Sweet and crunchy like an apple with the taste of a sweet date. Can be made into jams and jellies or eaten straight off the tree. Sherwood is one of the species that was grown from seed in the U.S. It is one of the very few thornless Jujube varieties and has a tall upright growth habit. It is only partial self-fertile so it will do best to have a pollinator. |
