Fragrant, like cloves! Named for the wife of Dr Uhlinger, Hort Prof at U of N. Try propagating: May have stems that, when followed back into the mat, have dark colored aerial roots. This end can be cut and stuck in soil to root. Or take cuttings btwn June and Sept (also have read to take cuttings in early spring). Remove lower leaves. Dip end in rooting hormone. Insert into the moist potting soil mixed with vermiculite (loam-based better than peat-based). Or try soaking cuttings overnight and then pot them. Keep in a shady place outdoors. Roots in 3 to 6 weeks or so. |
