Some of my flower garden's best 'blues' come from this one cultivar. Stunning color. Can be a bit floppy after a heavy rain.
Not xeric. Can be a bit touchy. Flower stalks may need to be staked as they can break/fall over due to weight.
Gorgeous plant! Very stately and a show stopper. Does need staking. If spikes are cut off after flowering, it will usually re-bloom.
This plant has lovely dark green and almost leathery leaves. It blooms in midsummer here, and has dusky blue-purple flowers. It seems to be very drought-tolerant; I have it growing on top of a hill in dry soil, surrounded by http://garden.org/plants/view/75570/ .
These are short lived plants for me (Pacific NW) so I have to keep planting them every year to keep a solid mass going. Pinch off spent flowers, then cut the finished spikes to a leaf bud for second bloom. When all done, cut to basal foliage. Feed monthly.
Delphinium Cherry Blossom has pink petals and a white bee.
This is a rock garden delphinium.
