I have had a landscape area full of approx 30 purple cone flowers for the last 6 years. They always did wonderful and were my favorite flowers! The problem is that they all died off this last winter. I live in Michigan. Is it common for this perennial to have die back after several years??

thanks

I'm afraid so. Perennials do have a specific lifespan, usually 5-6 years for coneflowers so I think yours have served you well. When you replace them with new plants you'll know you'll be able to enjoy them for another 5-6 years. Enjoy!
