A couple months back my young weeping cherry which is in a large planter box started to develop cherry leaf spot which took me a while to realize it was a problem and what exactly was happening, over the course of then next month most of the branches eventually lost their leaves, to the point where now there are just about 4 branches with leaves still remaining on them to some degree. I got a fungicide spray and eventually stopped the progress of the leaves dying. But now all the branches essentially have no leaves but the tree is very much still alive, but no new leaf growth has taken place. Is this normal ? I mean iv come to the conclusion there is not going to be any new leaves spouting this year, im just going to have to wait till next spring. But now I'm worried that the cherry leaf spot has somehow messed up the tree to where no new leaves will grow on these branches ? I looked up lots of info on cherry leaf spot but no one ever mentions about if the leaves will come back or when. Anyone know about this ? I pruned a couple smaller branches today and it seems the branch was still alive under the bark showing a whitish/yellow/green color so I don't think any of these branches are "dead" yet.
