Perennial ryegrass is an excellent choice for overseeding bermuda. It's a cool season grass and will perform nicely while your bermuda is dormant, then go dormant when the weather gets hot. The combination will give you a green lawn throughout most of the growing season, from spring until fall. You can spread a "starter fertilizer" on your lawn before or after seeding and it will give the new grass just the right amount of nitrogen to help it green up quickly. Just look for "starter fertilizer" in the fertilizer section of your local garden center. Best wishes with your lawn.
