Perennials
|
Hopefully, you've had your site plan sketch handy throughout our discussion, and you've evaluated existing and planned beds. Your next step is to plan your gardens by adapting the sample gardens to suit your needs. Once you've chosen your plants, note carefully the suggested spacing listed in the plant descriptions. It's helpful to draw each garden bed to scale, then draw in the plants you'll need to fill the allotted spaces, based on these spacing requirements. (Remember, you can always plant some annual flowers in the bed the first year to provide extra color until the perennials get established.) In our next class, we'll get our hands dirty as we tackle soil preparation and planting!
