I surprised myself and actually accomplished my goal of mulching the beds I fertilized the other day. Not only did I get them mulched, I also empted all the bags of leaves I had accumulated, and mulched the two main paths to the bog bed.
I had saved up those bags for over a month and the materials in them were just perfect for mulching I was so pleased. It was a combination of shredded leaves, pine straw and dried grass clippings, just wonderful stuff. I admit, I don't find that combination nearly as aesthetically pleasing as pure clean pine straw, but I was still pleased with the outcome. I can always go back and sprinkle pine straw on top if I get ambitious enough. No rain yet today, but they have upped the chance to 90 per cent tonight.
Here are a few photos of my finished mulching of the daylilies, nothing to do now except wait on the new plants coming over the next few months, the sites are all ready.
Of course these are not all the daylilies just the ones mostly in the bog area.
These are some I recently moved up the hill a little, much drier here.
These are some I moved just the other day, trying to use them in this area to stop a wash. That is my neighbors house and drive in the back ground.
My first Amaryllis blooms of the season.
