South Burlington, VT (February 15, 2008) - The National Garden Bureau and National Gardening Association have joined voices to sing the praises of gardening. These organizations share the mission to encourage all people to enjoy the numerous benefits of gardening. Since National Garden Month®, a program of the National Gardening Association (www.garden.org), is celebrated each April, it's the perfect time to begin promoting what's great about gardening. There will be garden parties all month long in celebration of the endearing and enduring love of nurturing plants.
People are encouraged to plan and partake in green festivities at parks, libraries, or garden centers. Look to your local cooperative extension agent and Extension Master Gardeners to help you plan garden celebrations. Many botanical gardens and arboretums offer educational programs during April.
The National Garden Bureau is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 to disseminate accurate information about gardening. To reach more people, NGB engineered a friendly web site www.ngb.org
The National Gardening Association is a non-profit leader in plant-based education whose mission is to promote home, school and community gardening as a means to review and sustain the essential connections between people, plant and the environment. For more information visit www.garden.org
