I am looking for recommendations for very tall varieties of bearded iris -- I have a couple NOID that are around 41 inches, along with Beverly sills and breakers around 40 inches.

Would appreciate any recommendations!

Lilac Wine is very tall - around 40 inches also. I remember being quite surprised the first time it bloomed for me because I didn't bother to check it's stats lol.

I don't know the actual measurement I had, as it varies from garden to garden, but these two were noticeably taller than all the others in my garden

Guilded Cloud tops out over 40" every time it blooms here.

Dial A Doll is registered as 37 inches but it always blooms over 45 inches in my garden.

My tallest irises are:

Material Girl, registered height is 48". I've never measured it in my garden, but it is plenty tall.


Bon Appetit, registered height is 44". Again, I've never measured it in my garden, but it is quite tall.

Mesmerizer usually grows much taller in my garden than its 36" registered height.

Material Girl is usually my last iris to open. It really is a soft, pretty yellow.

Oops. I said, "both," because I hadn't scrolled down quite far enough to see Mesmerizer. It's pretty, too!

Hello, and welcome. I just had help from these wonderful people identifying this Iris as William A. Setchell. It is very large all over. Eight inch blooms, and even here in cold Oregon it is 48 inches tall. It is not fancy, but tough.

I think my tallest is Supreme Sultan at 40". It is very sturdy and holds up well to strong winds.
