I grew Ava Gardner years ago and she performed like most Frank Smith daylilies do here. He hybridized some very appealing daylilies, with good form and lovely early morning colors. In our summer heat however fading can be a problem. So it was with Ava Gardner. The colors became more muted as the day progressed. I do grow in containers so please take that with a grain of salt when I tell you she only lasted a couple of years overwintering outdoors before she died. I did not replace her.........Maryl
