First timer here. I don't want to assume anything, but is the 28 November date, for Category Judging, the deadline for entry of photos? I see no specific information on a deadline date.

Thanks so much.

From the contest rules, I would not wait until the last minute! Have all of your entries in on November 27th. That is three full weeks where you could submit images.

The rules state that judging starts on the 28th. You should not be submitting on or after that date.

Appreciate that.
I read the contest rules, and would certainly enter anything well before that day, but it was still unclear when they stopped taking entries. I didn't want to assume.

It's a good question, because the rules aren't entirely clear. Importantly, the NGA time is set on UTC — Coordinated Universal Time, same as Greenwich Time — which in my time zone is 7 hours ahead. Last year I cut it right down to the wire, went to submit on the evening of the last day and discovered it was the next day UTC. Oops! So I recommend what Bill said: aim at the 27th or before..

Good idea Zoe. You said it better then me.
Since these are judged by the general NGA membership, there is no telling when some member will vote. But if they cast their votes early on the 28th, wouldn't you want to make sure that your images are there to be given consideration? To have entered images after judging starts puts them at a disadvantage.
Remember, this is all by volunteers, no paid judges, no full time staff. Just give yourself every advantage.

Entries aren't accepted after the cutoff, which I THINK is midnight UTC the 28TH. (DON'T RELY ON THAT!) and I'm pretty certain no one can vote before that.

@dave can you clarify?

Here's how it works: at exactly midnight November 28th (which would be 6:00pm Central time on November 27th) the photo contest will no longer accept entries, and voting immediately begins. If you were in the process of adding a photo when the clock strikes midnight, your carriage turns back into a pumpkin and you lose your chance to enter it. So don't delay too long!

Thank you for the clarification, Mr. Dave. As the administrator of the site and contest, that's what I was looking for.

I'm also in CST so that makes more sense.

Wishing everyone the best for your entries!
