Stagnant Summer | 7/25/2022
Posted on Jul 25, 2022 6:33 AM

There is so much going, there is so little to do. There's not much trimming or pruning. I've been holding off deadheading the Shasta daisies for no reason.

I have been working on a few flower beds

I'm going somewhere fun soon, I'm sure y'all will notice when I start uploading 80 images a day Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing . Apparently, as of yesterday (???), I average 17 photos a day, but this is including the fact that I can take staggering amounts of photos in just 1 trip to a BG.

One fun thing is a NEW species of carnivorous plant! Triantha occidentalis.

This is a really short blog because I don't have much to write about anyways

I'm Busy But Still Gardening | 7/13/2022
Posted on Jul 13, 2022 7:50 PM

Ah, I am busy again. Sorry for the lack of photos (if you have noticed!)
I should be able to post as usual, just less in the middle of the day.
I still am able to do gardening, just not as much as I would like to Sighing!

Recently I have gotten more interested in rock gardens! I'm almost out of space on the new flower bed... already... though not much as been added since I last posted photos. The old alpine bed is now hosting several large wildflower clumps that I plan to use for cut flowers in the future. Cute!

Some of my favorite Sempervivum are Karola, Lemon Babies, one of Bev's noID's (#80), Waldalina (Or is it!? Let me go check later), Seneca, and Bev's black NoID. I love semps! My sedum are not doing many fun things. I have 2 hylotelephium going to bloom. sedum lizard is also going to bloom -- it's an annual. There's not much going on.

I've reached the point in summer where everything is doing so fine thta I don't have much to do. Well, once the shastas go bye, I would have lots of fun cutting them back. For now, I am just busy and kinda bored for no reason.

I haven't bought much new plants lately, mainly because there's no time on weekdays, and barely any time on weekends. So, not many new plants to obsess about.

If you're wondering why there are still plants being added to my plant list, that's because I'm FINDING more. Last year I planted a lot of wildflowers, but the whole tray went perClunk and fell off the deck. Apparently, all the seeds washed into this ditch and now there are like 20 wildflowers growing in the veggie garden area...

Another recoming-back obsession is passifloraa. I love passiflora and their leaves. I have two caerula and a rooting lutea. I want them to grow big! M.

The veggie garden is yielding SOME food. not as much as last year, sadly. Lots of cucumbers, some tomatoes, a lot of water spinach.... a few peppers....

the scculents outside are also doing quite well. I want to repot them in the future. I'm making pots right now, custom Whistling . So I will post about thaat once I get stuff done.

My gesneriads are poppin'! A few of my AV's have produced babies. I have 2 clumps ready to divide -- Looxi gorgeous and Louisiana. I'm out of jars right now, so I won't be dividing them just yet. I also put my Ma's Debutanes under grow lights.... they are growing like they are on steroids! They love the grow light. Growing big and strong. My episcia produced two healthy babies, one coming in. Those two rooted at an ASTONISHIING speed in regular soil in a no-drainage-hole-pot. So cute and fuzzy. So cute. So cute. I love episicia, such nice plants. I haven't gotten the time to go to Merrifield, I wonder if they have new gessies there. I want more AV's and gessies!!! More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More More!!!! Assuming you haven't clicked off yet, here's some more bloggy-sentences.
I had lots of fun reading the azalea magazine thingy. I love learning about them! They are so pretty. My fancy azalea is planted in ground now. On a totally different note, I am collecting asparagus species. I don't even know why.

Anways, I have said what I can say. Honestly, I can't think of much more to say. So that's the end of the blog. Sorry I have some typos, I just don't have the time (or patience!) to go over them Sticking tongue out

Long Blog!?!? | 6/26/2022
Posted on Jun 26, 2022 7:06 AM

Well I got a bit more busy, but now I should be fine...
So here is an attempt at a long blog, I'm not sure how "long" it will be.

Everything in the outdoor gardens have been doing well. We got a cat mint and it is very cute and pretty, I enjoy the foliage and the flowers. The perennials in the side bed are going crazy and the phlox have started to explode. I have a lot of Phlox seedlings and I'd like to see how they do. I think I may have made the mistake of planting Solidago altissima in my bed, but it is pretty easy to remove. I also made the mistake of planting two daylily varieties too close, but I'm not sure if that's a big problem right now. I'm very excited for my Liatris Kobold. It's EXTREMELY tall this year and looks like it's filled with buds! Whistling

Over on the veggie side, lots of things are happening too. We started composting last year and this year a bunch of melon, pumpkin, watermelon, cucumbes, gourd seedlings started popping up. So, we just planted them all. We also have a few good hybrids of cucumbers and tomatoes. We have a few pepper plants, and a BIG tomato plant! We also planted water spinach. The Dioscorea polystacha (Chinese yam) is growing nicely. We got some strawberries from my Strawberry 'Seascape' and the 2 grape vines we have are getting some fruit. Lastly, both blueberry bushes are getting fruit Hurray! !!!! Yay!!!!

In the (new) Semp and Sedum bed, the pomegranates have more buds. We have two varieties but I don't know how to cross pollinate them to get fruit. I'm not sure how that works. Salavatski and nistki ranni (I think). The sedum are doing very well, Sedum rubens 'Lizard' is one of the top favorites right now. The Hylotelephium got munched by the deer earlier this year so I'm not expecting any blooms Sad . The Semps are chicking right now and it's very fun to watch. Persephone and Green Wheel are going to bloom, and Belle Etoile is currently blooming. Exciting! Some of my Orostachys are going to bloom this year, I would like to experiment with them. I love the color of Orostachys, I would like to get some more. Though a lot of the fun varieties are rarer.

My outdoor succulents (Tender succulents that I put outside for the summer) are THRIVING! Lots of new growth, compact colorful rosettes, and only a *little* rotting here and there. Everythings doing pretty good. A few succs bloomed this year. Pretty nice.

My indoor houseplants are also doing pretty good, all except Maranta leuconeura. Oh well. Sad to loose this one. But after we came back from vacation it was all yellow and weird. Not sure if it's too dry or too wet.

My gesneriads, oh boy....
Deinostigma tamiana seedlings are doing swell, getting bigger cotyledons. Mother plant has bloom stalks forming. What a suprise!
One of the Optimara AV leaves (Forgot name at the moment) has produced babies. Quite cute. Nice purple foliage to match future flowers.
AV Louisiana leaves have grown cute babies. Red petioles are so adorable. Mother plant got Cyclamen mites (???) and so I threw it away. Ewwwww.
All AV leaves except for 1 are in soil.
AVvariegated I moved under grow lights. Let's see what happens!
AV Ma's Debutane... I had 4 babies, gave one to a friend. I moved two under the grow light, one staying on the shelf.
Primulina Summer Song is developing a bloom stalk Hurray!
Primulina Nova, a sucker from a friend. Potted up. Need to water, the wick does not seem to be working ?!?
Black Pagoda lipstick plant grew a new shoot.
Codonanthes Paulia is growing new vines.
Alsobia Cygnet is growing a trailing-thingy and has flower buds Hurray! .
Nematanthus Cheerio is getting long stems. Almost time to choppy chop!

That's pretty much it. So, thanks for reading !
