A generic sunflower in the late summer garden. Bees love them! Their scent is like the aroma of honey. They were grown from a packet of generic seeds claiming to be only "about" 40 inches in height. The resulting plants topped out at 6 & 7 feet! What a surprise! On the positive side they bloomed in some beautiful shades of orange, yellow & burgundy. Photos to follow.

Thanks Frenchy. Here are some pictures from the sunflower 'forest'. The first one is the one the banner is from. The others illustrate color variations.

Special thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments. I especially appreciate the interest that you show by your thoughts, thumbs and acorns. For me the banner forum is a vital part of NGA since it allows individuals to contribute and be a part of this wonderful site! It also is a learning experience for those of us who are unfamiliar with certain plants. I cannot say enough about the banner forum and you who post creative banners as well as interesting comments and helpful ideas.
