Hummingbirds are among my favorite garden friends. Others are honey bees, assorted song birds, bumble bees and butterflies. All are necessary for pollination as well as adding natural beauty to the gardens. Hummingbirds especially add a delightful view of gardens zipping from one bloom to another. We grow lots of blooming plants to attract them from April into September. Nectar feeders are kept at strategic points as another food source. These tiny friends are just too rewarding and beautiful to ignore.
I am only a "point & shoot" photographer, and it is difficult to capture good clear images of these little gems because of their speed. However, here are some of my best efforts from a lawn chair on the back deck. The first one is the one I used for the banner.

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Leon,
I agree; "Hummingbirds are among my favorite garden visitors."
We love them, they're fascinating, beautiful, wonderful and a joy to watch in the yard. They have lots of flowers that attract them, as well as, 6 feeders in the yard. Exciting to see them arrive in the spring and we're always sad to see them depart in mid October (or later).
Of course, I love the songbirds (that we feed year round), the butterflies and the bees.

Also a special message for those who might be in Hurricane Dorian's pathway. The latest reports are that it could yet reach a category 5 status. Four states are being threatened; Florida, Georgia, South Carolina & North Carolina. For our gardening friends in these areas please take every precaution. It's not enough to say "be safe". We send our best wishes for your safety and hopefully a very minimum of storm related problems.
and blessings to everyone!
