The Serviceberry tree is a larval host plant for the Striped Hairstreak and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. In addition, this tree has special value to native bees, and supports conservation biological control by attracting beneficial insects to the garden. Finally, this plant is an important browsing and food plant for birds and other wildlife. Two Serviceberries will provide better berry production than just one due to cross-pollination.
