A year how the time flys!!!!
All I can say is I have been busy amoung other things.
Do to heath problems I have had to do some things different.
Thankfully I found 2 yard guys(father and son) who are hard workers and have a good bit of plant knowledge and they weed!!!
We have been getting my yard back in shape and I have been able to have it certified as a Wild Life Habit and certifed with S.H.A.R.E. Pollinator Partnership. Hoping to get it certified with the state as a Florida Friendly yard(do not remember what that one is really called)
Yesterday I was out in the heat trying to get some pictures of a couple of caterpillars and with in 20 minutes I say 8 different kinds of butterflies
Gulf Fritillary
Monarchs(returning for the winter)
Black Swallowtail
Gold Rim
Pipevine Swallowtail
Cloudless Sulfur
Giant Swallowtail
Zebra Longwing(first I have seen sense the freezes of a couple of winters ago)
Long Tailed Skipper
And lots of bees and wasp
I have also been busy over on Cubits, Zany and I have a Photo Contest forum going on. We have 3 contest going this month, the month long one is a scavenger hunt and we have 2 two week contest also
I am unable to walk much right now but hoping soon to be able to get out and get more pictures
until next time
This morning I went out to run some test, trying to find the best settings for my close ups.
Before I get started I found a bee that was just waking up.The pictures are not perfect but in them you can see parts of the bee that we normally do not see.
male Xylocopa virginica
He was on a Milkweed but as there was a sight wind and the Milkweed was also the more for a wasp nest , it was not a good set up so I moved it. But you can see the feet and the head
He was happy to sit on my thumb as I took her picture. I wish I could have put him some where, it is not easy to hold the camera with one had and take pictures
After he fly away I went on with my test but I get interrupted, That crazy dog of my stuck his noise in to see what I was doing. I could not resist taking z picture of it, not a good pictue as it was moving but here it is
The hurricane churned pass today. Mom and I went to the beach to watch the waves.
Unfortunely we did not get much rain.
I love to take pictures of insects or I should say try. It is hard to get a good picture of a moving target.
But today I am happy. The other day I was talking to a Doctorate(?) student about his study on Native Bees. I was telling him about a picture I get of a small bee coming in for a landing on a flower and he asked if I would share it with him. And any picture I sent him he would give me credit. Today I sent him some and he was very pleased with them. So I sent him more. LOL
So today I will share some of my Bug pictures. I have not ID'ed these yet.
I think this bee is sticking her tounge out at me.
Have no idea what these to are but looking to find them and in the case of the teeny tiny fly lucking to get a picture half way in focus.
This is all for today. Thanks for looking.
As you know I love close ups. A couple of days ago I went to a garden down in Gainesville, Florida. Now this garden is 62 acreas of plants, and I mean a LOT of plants. I plan on doing a few Threads on Public Gardens Photo Tours forum about this garden, but I keep getting side tracked. The garden has a lot of plant wit colored patteren leaves and many with texture to the leaves. The other day I spent over half of the 3+ hours I spent in the gardens(only covered less than fourth of the area) was spent taking pictures of leaves.
I would like to share a few with you.
This is just a few of the leaves that I saw.
Here is one of the pots that where in a contailer area.
I hope you all enjoyed my pictures
