I got this flag at Lowe's on June 30, 2023. It's really one of those garden flags that hangs straight up and down on those little horizontal posts, but this particular design works well hanging on a vertical post, I think. I had one of those tiny, traditional stars and stripes on a stick attached to this post for 2 years, but it got so ragged from year around weather, it had to be retired. This flag will do the trick. It's more weather proof, so hopefully it will last longer than the other one, being out in the weather 24/7/365.
This post has a "job". We have an auxiliary parking space in the back yard immediately to the right of the post, and it's a guide to stop the driver from mowing over the garden ahead. Parking there is a problem solver for us, on occasion. The flag helps with the visual for the driver, and of course, I'll take advantage of any opportunity to decorate something in the gardens.
The parking space is located between these three gardens....
Yeah, the post needs straightening.
A closer look at where the post is located in relation to the parking space. The perspective of the photo makes this space look shorter than it is in real life, but trust me there's enough length to park our medium size SUV there....
I'm pretty happy with the flag upgrade, and I'm all about functional design

A belated Happy Independence Day to all!
I really didn't think I would get to taking photos yesterday, but I had to replace a spotlight out front, so I thought why not? (I set the spots to wash each of the three columns in their own color of red, white, and blue ) I'm glad I decided to because there are a lot of FFO's and SFO's! Finally there's a show! I took these photos just after 9pm yesterday, so some are a little worse for the wear, and some seem to glow.

Overhead shot with a new this year garden ornament.....a barrel full of concrete block pieces. Quite the "showpiece"
Things are still a bit messy, but I'll get there eventually.

Blooms on July 2, 2023
We had a double rainbow in Canton. This shot is on our street nearly home from DB's. Sorry for the poor quality. You know how it is, cell phone from inside the car, and timed between wiper swipes.
Some blooms in my gardens....
FFO's:
Coit Tower, FFO!!
Last year I didn't get any blooms because I knocked off all of the buds I had on the one and only scape it sent up, while mulching the middle of this old tree garden. So this year, I've been so looking forward to seeing the blooms, but a few days ago, I noticed that the scape was bent over and I panicked, thinking that the scape broke and I'll have to go another year without seeing any blooms on Coit Tower. What you need to understand is that I fell in love with this cultivar early on in my daylily adventure, when I discovered Helix in 2014. So along with Helix, Coit Tower is a "first love", opening my eyes to the daylily world beyond Stella, but I've only had this one for three years. I am thinking that the buds and blooms might be too heavy for the scapes so I'll stake it, but I couldn't be more elated to lay my eyes on this beautiful bloom in real life!! It really comes in second to laying my eyes on our girls for the first time at their birth.
Coit Tower FFO

Red Volunteer FFO on first plant. There was an FFO on the second plant, but it was not looking good at all.

I had no idea that I shot this photo, but it's pretty cool. I tend to unknowingly shoot photos by accident. Every once in a while they are keepers.
