Monarch butterflies migrate to Mexico each winter to spend the season in a protected location. A recent winter storm wiped out an estimated 490 million of these butterflies in areas that provide sanctuary for two-thirds of the winter Monarchs in Mexico. You can help by planting blooms that provide nectar, milkweeds (Asclepias) that provide food for larvae, and eliminating pesticides from your gardens.
