Quick Chicken Cacciatore

Ingredients
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 frying chicken, cut up
1 quart tomatoes (fresh or stewed) or tomato sauce
salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons basil
2 teaspoons oregano
1/2 cup dry white or red wine

Preparation
In a large, heavy pot, saute the onions and garlic in butter and oil. When onions are barely translucent, add the chicken to brown. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes or until juices run clear from chicken.
