Granny's Garden: A Profile of Roberta Paolo (page 2 of 2)

by Charlie Nardozzi

A Happy Granny

It's certainly a rewarding experience for Roberta to walk down the hallways of the schools and have kids come up and ask her about the gardens. Some even tell her what they'll be planting this spring. Even previously non-gardening teachers and volunteers are so inspired they are gardening at their own homes.

"The most satisfying part is knowing that these gardens are bigger than just one person," says Roberta. "I may have been instrumental in starting them, but they'll live on in the school long after I'm gone." What better legacy for a granny to leave to not only her own grandchildren but also hundreds of others.
