If your hand-held sprayer just isn't big enough for all your spraying jobs, the new SprayMate battery-powered sprayer might be a good choice for you. The SprayMate features a 12-gallon polyethylene tank; a double-diaphragm, intermittent-demand pump; and a 22-inch-long brass wand with a nozzle that allow you to easily spray 25 feet into fruit trees, shrubs, and hedges. The pump provides 50 psi of pressure, and because the liquid doesn't flow directly through it, it's not damaged if the tank runs out while spraying. The best feature is the 12-volt battery that allows you to spray without having to listen to a noisy, gas-powered engine or to smell the fumes. With the tank full, the outfit weighs 129 pounds, but the 16-inch bicycle-like tires make it easy to maneuver, just like a garden cart.
The SprayMate sells for $379, which includes the battery recharger, or, for $329, you can get a tractor model that hitches to your garden tractor and uses its battery power. For more information, call Mantis Manufacturing at (800) 366-6268.
