I have three blossoming Cherry Hedges of which two are bearing fruit. Are these small bright cherries edible or are they just for show? The shrubs are growing very fast and are leaning forward. Can these extended branches be pruned back this time of year without harming the bush? |
Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora) fruits are edible and you can shear your plants to make a more uniform hedge. If you don't care about the fruit, prune them after they have finished flowering. If you do want to harvest the fruit, prune after you've harvested the fruit. |
