do jasmine die back in the winter? I have a jasmine I planted last year and the leaves are all brown and dried up, Do I prune it? I've heard they don't grow in our area very well.

Star jasmine usually does well in the Pacific Northwest but other jasmines can be iffy, depending upon the winter weather. I'd prune off all the obviously dead parts of the plant. If the roots remained alive over the winter months, you'll see new sprouts emerging from the ground in about a month. If the roots did not survive, there will be no new growth. Let's hope for the best!
