Planted cabbage & broccoli in garden soil & started growing but now stunted and leaves turning purple

The purple color can indicate cold overnight temperatures or it could indicate problems with your soil's pH. Have your soil tested to see whether it is too high or too low (most veggies grow best in 6.0-6.5) or if it is lacking a nutrient. Good luck with your cole crops.
