Can I plant leggy zucchini plants deeper when I transplant them in the garden?

The vine crops including zucchini are slow to recover from transplant shock in general so I think you might be better off to take extra care to condition or harden them off before transplanting them into the garden.  Try to plant them at the same level as they have grown in the pot if you can.  Also try to be very careful of the roots as you transplant them.  If it fails, you still have time to direct seed them in the garden.
