I was able to find only one reasonable reference to an interior plant using a common name of canela. (I suspect it must be newly introduced to the market.)

The web site of a plant wholesaler lists "Cinnamomum kotoense (Canela, Cinnamomum myrianthum) and describes it:

"Small-medium sized foliage plant that is becomong more popular in interior landscapes."

There is also a photo and some basic care information indicating medium to low light and average household temperatures or warmer. To view the photo, go to the following page and click on c, then scroll down to the entry and click on it. (You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.)

Another wholesaler lists it under that botanical name, again indicating low to medium light. There is also a reference indicating it grows in Taiwan, with photos.

As to watering, I would suggest keeping the soil slightly moist but not sopping wet or saturated and see how it responds. Also fertilize only lightly with a water soluble fertilizer for foliage plants at half the listed rate, spring to fall. Looking at the plant, I suspect it would appreciate ample humidity, especially during the winter heating season when our homes tend to have very dry air.

Your retailer may have additional care information, in the meantime I hope this helps.
