The mature height of your European Cranberry Bush is 8-15'. Trying to keep it 3'-4' tall will eventually compromise its health, but you can keep it small for a few years without harming it too much. After 3-5 years the wood will become quite thick. Pruning it back will stop the flowering (and perhaps even its ability to produce foliage). Your viburnum flowers in the spring. Prune it back immediately after flowers are spent so the plant will have all summer to develop flower buds for next year's bloom |
