I am interested in a Dwarf Purple Fountain Beech tree for a poolscape. It reportedly grows 12 ft tall. I would like to know about how wide it can get, and is the root system invasive to be planted in a pool area, about 7-8 feet away from the pool itself. I do not want it for shade, only ornamental value.

It may work in your small space, though it could be a tight fit for the roots. The width of the tree's crown is generally 4 to 5 feet, and roots generally extend 1.5 times the spread of the crown. I hope this helps with your planning!
