Can primroses stand the cold temperature from a late snow (in March)? I just planted them outside today, at 50 degree temperature, and tonight sudden change: predicted 2-4 inches of SNOW by morning, and I want to avoid the deliterious effects of the sudden cold weather! I just bought the plants at a garden center today. |
Primroses that are acclimated are very cold hardy, however they may have just been brought out of a greenhouse or cold frame and may not be fully hardened off yet. If you have the option, you might cover them with an upturned flower pot or laundry basket or similar protection or toss a bit of straw over top. Remove this in the morning. |
