I recently received a tiger lily plant as a gift. I do not know how to care for it. Can you please advise me if it is suitable to be kept indoors, or outdoors, sun or shade and how often should I water it? |
Lilium lancifolium is the botanical name of your tiger lily. It can grow to 4' or taller with orange flowers spotted with black. (Newer hybrids are available in white, cream, yellow, pink and red, all with black spots.) You can grow your tiger lily outdoors in a shady or partly shady spot - ideal conditions are to have the roots in the shade and the tops in filtered sunlight. Provide rich, moist soil. Lilies bloom best when soil is never allowed to dry out. If planting outdoors, amend the soil with plenty of organic matter, then mulch over the top of the soil with additional organic matter to slow down water evaporation. |
