| I grew caraway this summer and it never went to seed. Now I have large amounts of leafy caraway. What do I do with caraway leaf and for next year, how do I get it to seed? Also, I'd like to know where to find a good herb identifier on the web. My marker stakes were lost and I'm sure about the identification of some of the other herbs I have planted. |
| Caraway is a biennial meaning it does not set seed until its second year, so your plants should produce seeds next summer without any special effort on your part. The entire plant is actually edible; the leaves can be used in salads and to season soups and stews. I am not aware of a site where you can key herbs by characteristics, but if you have a basic idea of what you planted a quick web search using the names you do have (or names of things you are pretty sure you might have planted) should yield ample information including photos so you can narrow it down to what's what. |
