Do you have any information on a "Seaside Daisy"? Botanical name "Osteospermum". I would like to know if the daisy will grow and thrive here in Oregon. A friend in New Jersey told me about how beautiful they are, and they sound like just what I've been looking for, for my front walkway, but I don't want to plant annuals.

Osteospermum is called Freeway daisy and African daisy, as well as Seaside daisy. These perennials are quite hardy (they grow along the freeways in California without any care at all), and will be hardy in your Oregon garden. Expect the tops to die down after frost but resprout in the spring. Plant in full sunshine and water regularly during the summer months. Osteospermum will provide late summer blooms in your area. Keep the plant pinched back in early spring and summer to maintain a bushy habit. Stop pinching back when flower buds appear, but be sure to remove spent flowers to prolong the blooming season.
