I have a large, healthy 6 yr. old hibiscus that has outgrown its space. Can i move it, split it, or just severely prune it?

You can dig and transplant your hardy hibiscus and you might be able to divide it by cutting through the root system. As long as each division has both roots and stems attached, each should grow into a separate plant. Hibiscus takes well to hard pruning, as well. In fact, some die down to ground level each winter but grow new stems and leaves the following spring. So you have lots of options when it comes to reducing the size of your hibiscus.
