Samhain, Halloween, & the Day of the Dead
Here's a Web site (www.mythinglinks.org/Samhain.html) for all those mythology buffs who want to know more about the customs and rituals behind our modern Halloween celebrations. The Samhain festival was a Celtic tradition marking the end of summer and the beginning of the New Year. From out of the darkness comes the promise of new light.

Weeding Invasives and Restoring Natives
This workshop, cosponsored by the New England Wildflower Society and the Nature Conservancy's Berkshire Taconic Landscape Program, will be held on Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts. The focus will be on strategies for dealing with invasive plants and restoring natives in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York region.
