Aster Mythology
Greek gods, Minotaurs, floods.... This sounds like a Hollywood epic, but it's really all about asters. Check out University of Vermont ornamental specialist Leonard Perry's Web page on the mythology surrounding fall asters (http://pss.uvm.edu/ppp/articles/asters.html). After reading the information at this site, you'll never think of asters as just another fall flower.

Berkshire Botanic Garden Harvest Festival
Ah, fall in New England. The leaves are turning, the pumpkins are orange, and harvest festivals abound. If you're enjoying the fall foliage in the Berkshires the first week of October, don't miss the 66th Annual Berkshire Botanic Garden Harvest Festival on October 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There'll be music, food, shopping, a slient auction, kids' activities, crafts, games, and more. It's an old-fashioned, family-oriented festival and a classic fall event. Call 413-298-3926 or check out the Web site at www.berkshirebotanical.org for more information.
