The Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage
Since the 1930s, the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage has been an exceptional spring touring event that's welcomed visitors to some of Maryland's finest and most fascinating historic homes and gardens. This year's pilgrimage includes houses and gardens in six Maryland counties on April 21, 22, and 28 and May 5, 6, and 12.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by mail or at the door. The ticket price ($20 per person) includes admission and the tour book with the list and descriptions of the properties, a map, and driving directions. Contact the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage, 1105-A Providence Road, Towson, MD, 21286-1790, (410) 821-6933 for tickets and more information.

Web Finds

Lyme Disease
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) brings us the most up-to-date information about Lyme Disease, a topic of particular interest to those of us who garden (or otherwise play or work outside) in deer country. The Web site provides close-up, detailed photographs of the "mighty" deer tick, suggested prevention measures, and a question-and- answer section with plenty of information about ticks, disease, and vaccines. In an effort to be thorough and informative and get the message out, CDC even includes a documentary with Meryl Streep.
