Best Shrubs for Forcing
Forsythia branches are the first branches most gardeners try to force indoors, but many others can be forced. Along with basic instructions, the Illinois Extension Service lists 15 fine shrubs and trees to force into bloom in vases at www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/forcing/.

Take the confusion out of choosing shrubs by feasting your eyes on the photographs in Shrubs, part of the Southern Living Garden Guide series (Oxmoor House, 1996; $13). Good shrubs can be costly, so it's worth looking at this book first to decide exactly which shrubs are best for your yard.
