Clever Gardening Technique

Corral Invasive Mint
Mint is a wonderful, fragrant herb but it spreads rampantly by underground runners. To control its growth, cut the bottom off a 5- or 15-gallon, plastic nursery pot. Sink it into the ground so the top is level with the ground. Fill with potting soil and plant the mint in the center. The sides of the pot control the runners from spreading. The bottomless pot promotes good drainage and prevents root rot.
