Petunia 'Glamourflage Grape'
Wow! From afar, Petunia 'Glamourflage Grape' looks like variegated perennial vinca with huge purple blooms. It's actually a Hort Couture exclusive, new this spring. Featured at the 2013 Philadelphia International Flower Show, this petunia with grape-color flowers and bright cream and green ovate foliage reaches 8 inches tall with a 12 inch spread. Its mounded trailing habit makes it a great choice as a "spiller" in containers and in hanging baskets. Look for it at local garden centers.
This is so cool! Leafsnap: An Electronic Field Guide is the first in a series of electronic field guides being developed by researchers from Columbia University, the University of Maryland, and the Smithsonian Institution. This free mobile app (Android and iPhone) uses visual recognition software to help identify tree species from photographs of their leaves, flowers, fruit, petiole, seeds, and bark. Leafsnap currently includes the trees of the Northeast. Plans are to cover trees in the entire continental United States.
