National Garden Bureau's "Year Of The..."
The National Garden Bureau has announced the three crops featured in its 2013 "Year Of The..." program, which highlights one annual flower, one vegetable, and one perennial each year. Selections are chosen because they are easy-to-grow, widely adapted, genetically diverse, and versatile. 2013 is the Year of Watermelon; the Year of the Gerbera, and the Year of the Wildflower. This website has photos and fact sheets with history of the selections, information on specific varieties, and basic growing information.
