Favorite or New Plant

Kalanchoe
Kalanchoe (pronounced Kal-an-co-E) is a hardy flowering plant that can be grown indoors or out. They have thick, fleshy leaves and the flowers grow in clusters on branching stems. The flowers are brightly color that shows well against the dark green foliage. Plant in pots or in combination plantings with other plants that require moderate water. They are heavy feeders so a slow release product is recommended to provide a constant source of nourishment.

Clever Gardening Technique

Vacation Care for Indoor Plants
Use a large oven turkey roasting bag to create a miniature greenhouse for indoor plants while you are away on vacation. Push a few chop sticks into the soil to keep the plastic away from the foliage. Water the plant well, place it in the bag and then use a twist tie to secure the opening. The trapped humidity will keep the plant alive for several weeks. Set the prepared plant in a location away from direct sunlight or you will %%%cook%%% the plant inside the bag.
Oven roasting bags are durable and can be used over and over again. They also cook a really good turkey.
