Garden Tour in Greenville, South Carolina
The Greenville Council of Garden Clubs will sponsor "Open the Gate to Springtime Treasures," from 10 am to 5 pm on both Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5. The tour features seven gardens in the Augusta Road area, as well as the gardens of the Council's home, the Kilgore-Lewis House (c. 1838) at 560 North Academy Street. Proceeds are used for the preservation of the historic building and its gardens. Advance tickets are $18, tour-day tickets are $20. An English High Tea is also available from 2 to 4 pm at Kilgore-Lewis for an additional $12. For more information call 864-232-3020 or visit www.kilgore-lewis.org.

Native & Naturalized Plants of the Carolinas & Georgia
When looking for native plant information, I frequently turn to Native and Naturalized Plants of the Carolinas & Georgia. The idea behind this site is simple: books, to be commercially viable, are limited in information and photographs. So, this resource provides a comprehensive index of the published information on a plant, a map of where it grows, and a collection of photographs that show it in every stage of its life cycle, including flowers and seeds, as well as variations from the norm. The site also includes a glossary, a list of helpful field guides, and information on plant communities, invasive plants, and other pertinent topics.
