Books

Landscaping for Privacy
If your home and garden are exposed to a busy road or nosy neighbors, you should consult Landscaping for Privacy (Timber Press, 2011), by Marty Wingate. This book provides a number of creative options for buffers and barriers to eliminate the irritation of noise, utility items and other eyesores, street lights, trespassers, wildlife invaders, and other problems. General information is fleshed out in sidebars, such as "How high the fence?" and "Building and maintaining a berm." I also particularly like the accompanying photos and helpful plant lists, such as "No-Shear Hedge Plants" and "Plants for Windy Sites."
