San Francisco Flower and Garden Show
The theme for this year's San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, which runs from March 21-25 at the San Mateo Convention Center, is "Gardens for a Green Earth." Featured will be twenty display gardens, floral arrangements by local garden clubs, demonstrations by celebrity and local gardeners, and a shopping bazaar where you can purchase plants, tools and all things garden from exotic vendors.
For more information contact info@sfgardenshow.com. The San Mateo Convention Center is located between Highway 101 and El Camion Real at 24th Street.

Favorite or New Plant

Douglas Iris
Iris douglasiana is native to California and thrives between Santa Barbara and the Oregon border. It is a perfect addition to a woodland setting with handsome evergreen, strap-like leaves. The flowers are cream and lavender with shades of blue and bloom in spring and early summer. In fall, the large seed pods open to reveal striking orange berries, perfect for floral arrangements. Douglas iris is not fussy about soil conditions and will thrive on very little water. Plant in filtered shade for best bloom. Divide when plants become too large for their location.
