"Plant More Plants" Campaign
Plant More Plants encourages homeowners in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to plant with environmental impact in mind. The more plants, the better to help mitigate stormwater runoff and erosion. This effort could ultimately help improve the bay's health. Principles could be applicable to any watershed with poor water quality. This program is funded through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

Garden Designs and Seasonal Vegetables
In The Complete Kitchen Garden: An Inspired Collection of Garden Designs and 100 Seasonal Recipes (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, 2011), author Ellen Ecker Ogden inspires with history, designs, personal anecdotes, and recipes. Ogden sees her gardening as art. "I began to think of myself as a food artist. I built a collage of lettuces splashed with dabs of red orach, fronds of chervil, and rosettes of claytonia." She writes "When we bring our families together around the table to share our love for homegrown food, we are cultivating a healthy choice that spreads beyond our own backyard....When we learn to become responsible consumers, we also reclaim our health as a nation." My first thought is mouth-watering. I'd enjoy spending time in her kitchen, savoring her Asparagus Soup with With Coconut Lemon Creme.
