Books

Fruit and Vegetable Gardening
To ensure that you are eating organic produce, author Ian Cooke recommends growing your own food in Grow Your Own Fruits and Vegetables (Skyhorse Publishing, 2011). Cooke begins the book with a "Quick Start" guide for planting a vegetable garden that includes digging and amending the soil, selecting seeds, and harvesting. He goes on to give thorough instructions for planting in containers, digging garden beds, site selection, insect identification, and recommendations for seasonal crops. This is a great guide for the first time vegetable gardener. These days it's all about sustainability, and you will find the information you need in this book.
