Fall Landscaping Workshops
The City of Chandler (Arizona) Water Conservation department offers a variety of free landscaping and irrigation classes from August to October including yard makeovers, landscaping with color, water-wise edible gardening, pruning, and the ins and outs of drip irrigation. Find details at www.chandleraz.gov/water. Wherever you live in the Southwest, check with your local water conservation office or parks department for similar classes.

Pinch Herbs
Pinch back basil and other herbs regularly to inhibit flowering. When herbs go to flower, their flavor is diminished or becomes bitter.
