Clever Gardening Technique

Increase Soil Nitrogen
Nitrogen is an essential plant nutrient, and it is the nutrient most likely lacking in desert garden soil. Legumes, such as peas, fix nitrogen in the soil. When the harvest season is complete, don't yank out the plants. Instead, cut peas off at ground level, leaving the roots to decompose and release nitrogen into the soil.
